About

Our Mission

The mission of Sisters Walking in Freedom is dedicated to impacting the lives of the economically distressed by inspiring them to improve their economic standing through educational and personal development.

Sisters Walking In Freedom empowers individuals through three programming areas: the Enrichment Academy, Leadership Academy, and the Resilient & Restored Reentry Initiative.

Our Vision

SWIF’s vision is to maximize an individual’s personal and economic potential through education and training.

Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity

Sisters Walking In Freedom seeks to improve the quality of life for all staff, volunteers, persons served, and individuals that come into contact with our organization. We expect to achieve these goals by educating and training our staff and volunteers on the dynamics of our growing and culturally diverse community. Through this commitment, we will foster a culture that encourages empathy, awareness, compassion, and ability to interact with others who are different from ourselves with dignity, respect, patience, and understanding.    Embracing diversity enlivens creativity, acceptance, tolerance, and innovation. We respect, value and celebrate the unique attributes, characteristics, and perspectives that make each person who they are.

Sisters Walking In Freedom’s Board of Directors highly values diversity and supports the election and appointment of diverse candidates to the Board. The Board believes that including Directors of varied gender, race, ethnicity, and income levels, along with distinct abilities and experiences, contributes to a poised and efficient Board. Board of Director recruiting is based on purposeful recruitment activities that includes representation reflective of the local communities served.
